Humble Beginnings
We Began As Farmers
Pine Grove began as a farming community church around the year 1827, serving a small community north of Thomson, near the old Quaker town of Wrightsboro.
Buffer Zone
The town was established as part of a buffer zone among the Creek and Cherokee Indians, as well as the nearby settlement of St. Paul Parish (now Augusta). The area was rich in fine soil and contained one of the first gold deposits found in Georgia. In 1870, the area was included in the new McDuffie County by act of the State Legislature.
God’s Continued Blessings
Two Hundred Years Later
Almost two hundred years later, the church remains on the same site, as the main road turns off to join Thomson with Lincolnton. The original building (built from the Pine Grove that gave the church its name) has long been replaced with a brick building. As the years pass, however, the heart of Pine Grove remains a dedication to the service of Christ, to fulfilling the commands to love God and to love our neighbors, while standing firmly on the truth of God in our daily lives.
Serving the World Around Us
Pine Grove supports local ministries helping the poor in our community, supports overseas work bringing clean drinking water to the third world, and overseas missionaries faithfully
proclaiming the gospel to the world at large. As the area has grown and modernized over the years, the church has modernized as well, faithfully preaching the gospel, and offering fellowship to our local families.
Moving Forward
Remembering Our Legacy
While we look to the future of our church and expect some amazing things to happen, we also look back to God’s faithfulness over the centuries, and soak in those moments. In pressing forward, we have every intnetion of reamainaing true to who we are as a church and what we believe.

We believe that God still has much in store for the people of Pine Grove. We look ahead with great anticipation for all that God is going to do in and through His people. We invite you to join us on this journey of faith.
